Comparing ourselves to others is human nature, however this can be detrimental to us if it results in us feeling envious, powerless, and miserable. This negative emotional state hinders our individual’s ability to improve and enjoy life. Achieving one’s personal goal is difficult if it is being constantly flooded with negative thoughts.

We are all unique so each person’s individual journey towards progress will differ. The following steps will help you in establishing goals and developing self-worth!

 Identify your triggers.

 We all have our own triggers that lead us to compare ourselves to others and it can be difficult to break the cycle of doing so. It is therefore crucial to be honest with yourself and figure out what your triggers are. Ask yourself the following questions

 Is it a particular social situation?

What situations cause me to compare myself to others?

Do I compare myself when I am on social media?

 Once you have identified your triggers it is time to start making a change. Brainstorm some ideas that can help you to avoid comparing yourself to others. Consider investing in a life coach that will help you identify your triggers with you. They will also assist you how to create ideas on how to stop self-sabotaging and preventing you in reaching your full potential. You can break the cycle and start living confidently!
